"Céline is a compelling storyteller—equal parts social activist, environmental filmmaker and indomitable adventurer. She brings an exciting range of talent, passion and expertise to the National Aquarium's Board of Directors," said John Racanelli, National Aquarium chief executive officer. "She has dedicated much of her career to highlighting the importance of our connection to the natural world that sustains us, and this is strikingly consistent with our own mission to inspire a new generation of hopeful conservationists. Her voice as one of our ocean planet's most eloquent advocates fits perfectly with our expanding national and global conservation initiatives."

"Joining the National Aquarium Board of Directors is not just an honor, it is about aligning with a future-thinking organization that pushes ideas and boundaries to enhance their conservation initiatives," said Cousteau. "I believe through collaboration, we will achieve our mutual goals and find new energy to advance critical marine education and conservation projects."

In addition to serving as Ambassador for The TreadRight Foundation and previously as a Member of the World Economic Forum Council on Oceans, Céline brings awareness to the environment through beauty and fashion collaborations, including her roles as a Guest Designer for Swarovski and creating coral-inspired jewelry for a sustainable luxury fashion collection by London based designer Deborah Milner. Céline also sits in on the advisory boards of The Himalayan Consensus and Marine Construction Technologies.
