Philanthropist and international supermodeal Petra Nemcova founded the Happy Hearts Fund to restore hope and opportunity to restore hope and opportunity to children affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Since that time the organization has grown in response to other natural disasters, and is now active in 10 countries around the world. Since HHF started, Petra has been personally involved in much of their daily operations — at their office in NYC and around the world, as she visits many schools to view their progress, support their openings, and meet students, teachers, and community members. Her dedication has helped to establish the structure, vision, and strategy that’s allowed us to succeed in rebuilding #HappySchools.
On November 3, 2014 Petra Nemcova received the World Tourism Humanitarian Award. The award is given annually by the World Tourism Awards organization in recognition of her “inspiring philanthropic initiative and vision in creating Happy Hearts Fund.”
