Blood Lions

Blood Lions

TreadRight joins the global call to put an end to predator breeding and canned hunting practices.

Objective

In South Africa, lions continue to be killed in canned hunts every day. Hundreds are slaughtered annually for the lion bone trade to Asia. Between 8,000 and 10,000 predators with the possibility of an increase in number, are held in small enclosures on almost 300 captive predators facilities across the globe. If we don’t act now, that number could soar to well over 12 000 within the next few years. Most of these predator facilities are usually known for commercial operations breeding and exploiting animals for activities from canned hunting, the bone trade, cub petting, ‘walking with lions’ and other tourism based activities.

Impact

TreadRight supports the Blood Lions campaign in Africa by taking the pledge to help promote the global call to put an end to the breeding, canned hunting and commercial exploitation of wild animal species.
